A Regina man is accused of stabbing a woman multiple times while she was sleeping.
Around 8:22 a.m. on Dec. 5, officers were dispatched to a home on the 200 block of Froom Crescent for a report of a break and enter where a 36-year-old woman was injured. Police and EMS arrived and located the victim who had suffered multiple stab wounds.
During the victim’s statement to police, she indicated she was asleep when she was assaulted by a man who stabbed her with some sort of tool used in sheet metal work.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment. Her condition is unknown.
The suspect was identified as the man who was renting a space at the same residence.
The man fled the area in a vehicle and was arrested by Manitoba RCMP after his vehicle left the road by Virden. He was returned to Regina on Dec. 9.
Wesley Jettediah Brookes, 18, is charged with attempted murder. Brookes made his first court appearance in Regina Monday.
