The Rams stand out slotback Mitchell Picton has cracked the CFL Scouting bureau’s 2017 draft rankings.
Picton, who was second in the league in receptions, sits in 20th on the list which was released by the CFL on Thursday.
He was unranked in the initial 2017 rankings which were released in September, but his remarkable season must have stood out to scouts.
Picton played all eight games this season and amassed 58 receptions for 834 yards and 11 touchdowns in the 2016 season. He also earned first team all-Canadian honours.
“Mitch had a great season and really developed into an elite player at this level, and it was great to see all the hard work he’s put in pay off,” said Rams offensive coordinator Mark McConkey in a news release on Thursday.
The Scouting Bureau will release one more scouting report in April after the CFL combine. This year’s combine will be part of the first annual CFL Week, which will be hosted in Regina next year.
The date of the 2017 draft has not been announced.
