Police believe they were shot at during a traffic stop at a motel just outside downtown Saskatoon.
Officers reportedly saw a suspicious vehicle at the Northwoods Inn and Suites around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. While dealing with that situation, they heard a gunshot.
The officers ordered the driver of the car to get to safety and then took cover until the police service’s armoured vehicle arrived.
From there, police swept the motel, putting 17 residents onto city buses while they searched the building. People were allowed back into their rooms around 1:30 a.m. Friday.
Police reported that to date, they’ve laid no charges in relation to the gunshot and don’t have any suspects.
However, searches of the rooms did lead to charges against two people.
A 25-year-old woman was charged with drug and weapons offences after allegedly being found with methamphetamine, a knife, an axe and .22 calibre ammunition.
A 25-year-old man was also arrested and charged with obstruction and breaching a court order.
Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call them at 306-975-8300 or to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
