The heartbreak and sorrow felt after the news of Joe McKnight’s death was far and wide. McKnight played on USC, the Jets, Chiefs, Eskimos and Roughriders.
Those connected him with several players who said the same thing of the Riders running back. He was one of the best teammates to have. A funny, charming guy who had an unbelievable talent.
Tyrann Mathieu of Arizona tweeted out that everyone wanted to be Reggie Bush. In New Orleans kids wanted to run the ball like Joe McKnight.
McKnight’s professional career never achieved the stardom of his high school and collegiate career.
And now a 28-year old, who could have been finally grabbing hold of a consistent role with the Roughriders, is dead.
Shot because of a traffic dispute.
It’s sickening. It’s absolutely maddening – such a young, bright kid dies in a traffic dispute.
