You can now pick the channels that you want to watch through your cable provider.
The pick and pay system began Dec. 1, 2016.
SaskTel has offered the service since the beginning of November.
The Crown’s Greg Jacobs explains you simply pick what you want.
“It really depends on the customer but yes, you can just pick the channels that you want to use,” Jacobs explains.
“But if you want things like HD or PVR you have to select those into your package as well.”
The Canadian Radio and Television Commission (CRTC) mandated skinny packages at the beginning of the year in answer to customer dissatisfaction with the services being provided. The pick and pay changes followed.
Access Communications is also provided the service through theme packs.
“You can pick from our base packages and then you build on to that with the theme packs you want.”
The CRTC does not regulate the retail prices of the channels and packs being offered.
