Thousands of people had breakfast in the dark this morning after a breaker blew at a substation north of Regina.
SaskPower said the issue happened after 6 a.m. Thursday morning.
“It took out power to about 6,000 people in the northwest part of Regina, as well as rural areas near Condie,” SaskPower spokesperson Heather Johnson said.
People texting 980 CJME reported seeing a bright flash of light.
SaskPower received many calls about the incident.
“Because of the time of day, of course, people are getting up, their starting their day so they notice when they can’t turn on their lights or get their coffee going in the morning,” Johnson said.
SaskPower reported that the breaker was repaired and power was restored around 7:45 a.m.
