It’s time to pop the popcorn – a new movie theatre has been announced for Regina.
Landmark Cinemas Canada is opening a theatre in Aurora, a new retail site in the city’s east end.
It’s scheduled to open in spring 2018.
The theatre will offer premium-powered La-Z-Boy® style recliners in all eight of its auditoriums – but without a premium price.
“Experiencing a movie on the big screen, in the comfort of a powered recliner seat is an incredible entertainment experience,” said Bill Walker, the Chief Operating Officer of Landmark Cinemas in a news release.
“We are thrilled to bring this concept to Aurora and are confident that movie lovers in Regina and its surrounding regions will make this their movie-going destination.”
“We are honoured to have Landmark Cinemas, a leading Canadian movie exhibition company, choose Aurora as its first location to open in the Regina marketplace,” said Blair Forster, the president of Forster Projects, one of the development partners.
Forster said Aurora – located on Victoria Avenue East at the new Trans-Canada Highway Bypass – will be approximately 750,000 sq. ft. of retail space, featuring large and small stores. He added entertainment and dining will be a major focus of the first phase of development and that the Landmark Cinema will be the development’s anchor.
