Could you imagine getting the call to be among the 32 to gather in Quebec to try out for Team Canada’s World Junior team?
For a teenager, it may be the biggest moment of their young lives and for a few guys from coast to coast and for a handful down south, they got the call to attend the selection camp.
Wow.
Although this World Junior tournament doesn’t mean much outside of Canada, it still does inside our borders.
We watched Gretzky, Lindros, Crosby, Toews and Eberle become Canadian hockey icons in their late teens.
And now the future crop of NHL stars will try to make their name for themselves in Toronto-Montreal this season.
While the selection process is a bit flawed and have left some extremely talent players at home again this year, the journey for 32 of the best junior and collegiate hockey players began with a phone call of their lives this week.
In less than a month, one of the best tournaments begin at its purest form. Amateur kids playing for the love of the game and national pride.
