The front lobby of the Regina Police Service (RPS) headquarters were closed off for about an hour Tuesday afternoon after a suspicious package was dropped off.
Police said someone brought in the weird looking container at about 1:15 p.m. after noticing it in a local park.
The RPS Explosives Disposal Unit checked out the container, and it was determined there was nothing wrong with it.
The front doors of the RPS headquarters were reopened around 2:09 p.m.
Police said tt appeared to be a Geocache container. The RPS described Geocaching as like a treasure hunt, using a Global Positioning System to find containers at specific locations marked by coordinates. The containers usually hold various toys or trinkets for collecting or trading.
Police strongly encourage anyone who notices a package or container that looks out-of-place or suspicious to alert authorities. However, police remind people not to touch or move the object.
