The new condo complex being built at River Landing sold out in three days over the weekend.
“You hear about these things happening in other major centres, (Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto) but never in Saskatoon,” said President of Victory Majors, John Nasser.
“It’s quite a remarkable accomplishment that we’re very proud to be a part of.”
The 105 unit building overlooking the river will be finished by 2019.
“I’ve been in the condo business for a long time and this is the first quick sell out I’ve had in my career,” Nasser said.
The developer is Urban Capital out of Toronto Ont. who partnered with Victory Majors on the project.
Nasser said one of the big selling features was the location of the building.
“The location is good, the building is beautiful, and the interior design is quite appealing,” he said.
A statement Mayor Charlie Clark echoed on the Brent Loucks show Tuesday morning.
“Location, location, location, it’s quite an incredible story. We’re seeing that people are starting to want to live downtown and be close to all the amenities.”
Nasser said he believes most of the buyers are from Saskatoon.
“You had to come in for an actual viewing before you bought,” he said, adding the condo units ranged in price from $249,000 to $1.2 million.
“Everything was by appointment, so I don’t think any buyers were from out of town.”
A 15-storey hotel and spa complex will also be built on Parcel Y, along with two office towers.
