A group of Regina waterholes is giving customers another way to get home safe during the holiday season.
The Leopold’s Hospitality Management Group is offering free designated driving services every weekend in December at its three Leopold’s Taverns and Victoria’s Taverns.
“We’ve actually been thinking about this for some time and recently it just kind of hit the right timing with all the drunk driving issues kind of kicking into high gear,” brand director Yaya Wang said.
“We really just wanted to be a leader in our industry to really set the standard.”
Designated drivers will be available every Friday and Saturday night during the month of December, starting at 9 p.m. and ending at 3 a.m. One driver will drive you and your vehicle home, while another person will drive your driver back to the pub.
The service will be operated on a first come, first serve basis. And while Wang said they won’t be able to help every person get home, it will help curb impaired driving during a cold winter month.
“I think the mentality is people are reluctant to leave their vehicles behind in case of a ticket, in case of being towed or just not being able to start it the next day.”
“We want to do our part and help change that mentality.”
