Reading head coach Chris Jones calling Darian Durant as “moderately successful” has dropped my confidence level on the quarterback returning for 2017.
Jones is giving Durant a lot more time than he did for John Chick and Weston Dressler to come within the team’s salary structure, but it may be met with the same conclusion. We’re watching Durant win games elsewhere.
I like the fiscal responsibility Jones is taking within the salary cap but he’s also responsible for winning games.
But back to “moderately successful” – maybe it was a bad choice of words, but when you read the rest of Rob Vanstone’s piece in the Leader Post – no, that is exactly what he meant.
And as far as money, Matt Nichols will ask for more money than Durant is asking of the Riders. Let that sink in for a moment.
Matt Nichols “moderately successful”.
Darian Durant is a proven winner.
Though it appears Jones does not view Darian as his #1, as his ride or die. Instead, Durant appears to be the quarterback that will be just fine if they can’t find anyone else.
