Regina home destroyed by Saturday night fire

The first floor of the house was boarded up, the windows were broken out, and the entire front of the home was charred and black on Sunday morning, but the flyers in the mailbox of the house at 1332 Retallack Street were almost pristine.
 
Ken Park lives just down the street, and he said he was alerting to something going on when he heard shouting. Park said soon after, he smelled and saw smoke out his window.
 
“So I came down and just the porch was on fire that I could see from the front, and within three, four minutes the whole house was on fire.”
 
Regina Fire and Protective Services was called to the scene at 7:30 p.m. Crews were on scene within three minutes to find the house fully engulfed in flames.
 
“You couldn’t even barely stand across the street, that’s how hot it was,” said Park.
 
The fire spread to the two neighbouring houses as well – the roof caught on the house to the south while the eaves, siding, and front porch of the house to the north caught on fire.
 
The roof and siding at the top of the house to the south were black on Sunday morning from the fire.
 
Park said the heat melted the doorbell on the house to the north.
 
Crews focused their attack on the neighbouring houses, then turned their attention t the house in the middle. The fire was large, so it took a while to put out.
 
No one was hurt in the fire and, as of late Sunday morning, there was no cause for the fire determined yet.

Garage Fire 

Regina fire crews had to respond to a garage fire a few hours later, at 2:25 a.m. Sunday.
 
It was at a home on Jameson Crescent, east of Prince of Wales Drive in southeast Regina.
 
Regina fire said the owner of the house smelled smoke in the attached garage and discovered the fire.
 
It was a small fire, so crews put it out quickly. The flames didn’t spread into the house, but it did cause moderate damage to the garage.
 
No one was hurt in this fire either and there was no word on the cause later on Sunday morning.
