Regina’s new police chief was officially sworn in on Nov. 8.
Evan Bray was named the new chief in October after beating out several candidates.
“It’s a bit surreal still,” the 21 year member of the force said. “Even the other day I picked up my phone and I answered it ‘Inspector Evan Bray’ so it’s probably going to take a little while to sink in.”
Bray was the unanimous pick of the Regina Police Service’s Board of Police Commissioners. As a member of the force, he has served in both front line uniform work and plain clothes sections.
“I’m going to continue all that external community building but we’re going to do some focusing in the building as well.”
Bray believes more police are needed because the city continues to grow. He also said communication with the public is key.
