Jamie Nye: Elections are like Game 7s, I can't turn away

That’s right. The sports guy stayed up until 2 a.m. to watch the U.S. election play out.

It was like a Game 7 with extra innings and a rain delay thrown in. Sound familiar? Well, it had the same drama. There was a time Donald Trump wasn’t supposed to win the Republican nomination. In fact, there was a time many thought he was a joke who would eventually just quit, hoping that running gave the Trump brand a little extra exposure.

But then he stayed in the race. Then he won the Republican nomination. Then people bet against him for presidency.

In the end, the U.S. went with a guy who was different from the rest of them.

Politicians are sort of boring and boring won’t get you many votes.

The great politicians know how to cut through to another level.

Trump had a message – as divisive and potentially dangerous as it was – grabbed headlines and hit a chord.

His playbook may have been unorthodox but it won.

It was a comeback for the ages. I just hope he’s ready to handle job because this is no game.
