Forget the U.S. election – it’s the ongoing drama between Darian Durant and the Saskatchewan Roughriders that people are talking about in Saskatchewan.
The longtime quarterback still has not re-signed with the Riders.
As the team emptied out their lockers on Sunday, the once-optimistic quarterback took a different tone.
“I think right now it’s pretty much at a standstill,” Durant said, adding he feels he has presented a reasonable offer to the team.
Head coach Chris Jones said the negotiations aren’t quite at the standstill Durant alluded to.
While both sides are telling their own story of how talks are going, fans just want to see action.
“Darian Durant is probably, arguably one of the best – if not the best – quarterbacks in the CFL today and he’s very much unappreciated,” said Mike, who called into MainStreet Monday.
Not all callers want to see Durant signed at any cost.
“I don’t think you should bend over backwards for him, but I think he should be offered a better contract than what he got.”

While most callers wanted to see Durant signed, others thought the Riders should move on from the longtime quarterback.
“He performed at the end of this season all pouty and everything in the last games. He came out like a fourth string quarterback,” said Les, another caller on MainStreet.
