A Regina nightclub faced backlash online after posting an ad promoting “2 for 1” tequila Thursday night – the night before Remembrance Day.
Gabbo’s ad, which featured a background of poppies, said, “Lest we forget.”
The ad was posted Monday night to Facebook and Twitter. It received lots of criticism – and some support for the promotion – before being yanked.
@Gabbos_Regina Really? “Lest we forget” used as a marketing tool?? That is disgusting. #Shameful #Uncanadian

How utterly classless and disrespectful to our veterans. Shame on you, @Gabbos_Regina. https://t.co/ffQGhn200Z

@Gabbos_Regina how disrespectful is your 2 for 1 night on Nov 10. I hope someone can explain to you how shameful this is and you rescind

Many people vowed never to return to Gabbo’s.
@Gabbos_Regina a disgusting awful tweet. I will never go to your business again and I encourage others to do the same

@Gabbos_Regina what a horrible idea. I will never step foot in this place again

By Tuesday afternoon the nightclub’s Twitter account appeared to have been deleted, and all photos and posts from its Facebook page had been wiped as well.
980 CJME has reached out to Gabbo’s for a comment, but have not heard anything back. A sign outside of the nightclub also advertising two-for-one tequila was still posted on Tuesday morning.
