Saskatchewan should be taking notice of the University of Regina Rams and the University of Saskatchewan Huskies football programs.
New Rams coach Steve Bryce has done an incredible job of empowering a group of football players that were part of a winless team last season. The Rams, who finished the regular season in top spot in the Canada West standings at 6-2, are fun to watch. The Rams host UBC in a Canada West semi-final on Saturday. Regina quarterback Noah Picton averaged 398 yards in passing per game this season.
Then there is the storied U of S Huskies football program that take a three-game win streak in to a Canada West semi-final in Calgary. The Huskies, who played in the 2004, ‘05 and ‘06 Vanier Cup games, have not played in a Hardy Cup final since 2009. They can return with a win at McMahon Stadium.
If you’re a football fan, give these games a chance. They won’t disappoint.
