Temporary traffic lights will be installed a little east of Regina as construction on the bypass continues.
The new lights will be at the intersection of Gravel Pit Road and Highway 1. It will be operational Monday evening, weather permitting, and will remain there for the foreseeable future.
Since the closure of the Pilot Butte access on Oct.18, the bypass team has been monitoring the changing traffic patterns in the area. Due to what they have seen, the decision was made to install the traffic signals.
The speed limit will change from the city limits to the old Pilot Butte access. It will now be 70 km/h.
From the old Pilot Butte access to Balgonie, the speed limit will be 80 km/h expect through certain construction zones where the speed drops to 60 km/h.
Paved service roads on both sides of Highway 1 provide motorists with easy access to the intersections with traffic lights at Highway 48 and Gravel Pit Road.
