Darrell Davis: Questions about Darian Durant still hanging in the air

Will the veteran quarterback re-sign with the Saskatchewan Roughriders? Or are his demands too high for the CFL team, which means he can become a free agent in the offseason?

Even Durant’s status for his team’s final game remains uncertain. He’s apparently banged up, so he may not play Saturday in B.C. If he doesn’t start, at least he wouldn’t get jerked around in the silly QB rotation deployed by the team’s coaches.

Judging by his reception from fans during Mosaic Stadium’s farewell party, Durant is Rider royalty. But even kings have salary limits.

Durant has said he wants to re-sign with the Riders. The Riders say they want to re-sign Durant. The team is reportedly negotiating with Durant’s agent. That means they haven’t agreed on a contract, the term, the salary, how much is paid in advance, how much he can earn in bonuses. They must be a long ways apart.

Can everything be resolved? That’s the real question.
