To cap off the end of the regular season the University of Saskatchewan Huskies thrashed the University of Alberta Golden Bears 48-9 Friday night at Griffiths Stadium.
A season kicker Sean Stenger will never forget.
The third year made 22 field goals on 26 attempts, which is the most in Huskie history.
He was also six for six on the night.
“It’s part of the offense and not just a solo thing,” the modest Stenger said. “It’s a total team effort because the snaps have been great and so have the pins.”
It broke Grant Shaw’s 2009 record of 19.
“We played really well,” said Huskies head coach Brian Towriss. “We made some mistakes, but those are hard games to play for both teams.”
A third straight win to end the regular season at 5-3.
If the University of Calgary Dinos lose to UBC Saturday, the Huskies will place second and host a playoff game next Saturday.
Bring out the UBC colours jokes Towriss.
“We are going to cook some burgers up, watch the game and find out where we play next week,” he said.
