Watching the CFL rally around Barron Miles reminds me why I love the league. It’s a family. I found that out first-hand eight years ago when my wife died.
But when Wally Buono told reporters about Barron Miles’ situation, the CFL family responded. Led by CFL players, alumni and management, a GoFundMe page is raising money to help Barron’s wife, Jennifer, undergo a needed operation. They will be contacting the Miles family, sending their support, letting them know how much the CFL cares.
I saw that in 2008. Eva was sick, dying from cancer. My media buddies wrote emotional columns and spoke beautifully about her situation. Players like Gene Makowsky and Paul McCallum called. Jim Popp, Marc Trestman and John Hufnagel sent their respects. Eric Tillman, Mark Cohon, Roger Aldag and Jim Hopson attended her funeral.
All I had to do was look around for support. Barron Miles can do the same thing.
