A man who was in a truck pursued by Saskatoon police over the weekend has died from injuries he received during the chase.
It started at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday when police spotted a truck, believed to have been stolen the day before, on Avenue V South near 17th Street.
The driver refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. The chase ended when the truck slammed into a fence near Bethlehem Catholic High School.
A 21-year-old man, a passenger in the truck, was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries and has since died.
The 20-year-old driver was arrested and now faces charges that include dangerous driving causing death, evade police causing death, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.
Investigators from the forensic unit had been helping a collision analyst with the investigation. Saskatchewan Justice is now overseeing the case.
