In a relatively quiet civic election campaign in Regina, there is a bit of noise emanating from Ward 7.
Incumbent councillor Sharron Bryce complains one of the councilors running against her–John Gross– is insinuating she lives in Regina Beach and not Regina. She decided to make a post on Facebook setting the record straight.
She stresses Regina is home for her 100 per cent of the time; she doesn’t have a house, cabin or any property in Regina Beach.
Pamphlets with Gross’ picture, contact information and the allegations are circulating within the city.
Bryce is fiercely adamant the information is completely false.
“I’m upset about this. People, unfortunately, in my ward are believing it and I’m not going to lay down and let this happen. I’m fighting for my spot on council,” she told 980 CJME.
Several angry residents have contacted her about the claims, Bryce continued, saying the entire matter is distressing. She can’t explain what prompted the allegations, and has asked Gross to stop distributing the pamphlets. Bryce revealed he refused, so now she’s getting her lawyer to ask him to stop.
“I just want people to know that I’m an honest person, I do live in Regina and I don’t want to let this go. I need to fight for this.”
980 CJME reached out to Gross. He said he’s not claiming anything against Bryce. But when asked directly if he was behind the pamphlets questioning Bryce’s residency, he did not answer the question and hung up.
