Regina police are reminding people to keep a watch on their property and where they live after recently receiving several reports of stolen mailboxes in apartment buildings.
Police said the thief will be looking for anything with a name and banking information on it.
In a news release, police provided some tips to keep one’s identity safer:
– Opt-out of paper statements from your bank and go with e-statements instead.
– An overflowing mailbox is a sign of an absent resident. Be a good neighbour by offering to take in mail, when others are away on holiday, and have somone take in your mail while you are away.
If you see someone acting suspicious, hanging around mailboxes, studying them but not getting their mail with a key, take a second look at their actions.
Any suspicious activity can be reported by calling Regina police at 306-777-6500.
