The Edmonton Eskimos can an another ‘E’ to their title: Embarrassment!
The Canadian Football League and TSN are doing all they can to promote and add new and different things to the television broadcast to bring better ratings.
One of the major things they came up with was the live mic addition.
Quarterbacks and coaches mic’d up, hearing their calls and comments live. It’s an interesting thing when used correctly though most often the verbiage they use is Latin to the rest of us, but it’s a sign they are at least trying.
All teams have done it now except for two: Toronto because they haven’t had a game with the live mic and Edmonton, who rejected participating on game day. It was Thanksgiving. There were no Jays, no NHL, no NFL, just CFL football and the Eskimos embarrassed the television network that is helping keep this league alive and thriving.
This is deserving of a fine like the Riders and roster violations or Kent Austin striking an official.
The Eskimos were asked to play by the rules. They agreed and then backed out and left the broadcaster looking like they had their pants pulled down.
TSN pays a lot of money to the Eskimos to have the TV rights. So it’s time the league and TSN gets some of that money back.
