Just in time for the start of the season, the Saskatoon Blades have named their team captain for the 2016-17 season.
Wyatt Sloboshan will wear the ‘C’ on his jersey when the Blades open the season on Friday.
“It’s your dream to be a Blade when you’re a young kid, and to be the captain, it’s hard to find words to describe it,” said Sloboshan in a video posted by the Saskatoon Blades.
The forward is heading into his 3rd season with the Blades. Last year he posted career highs with 19 goals and 44 points.
“Wyatt came in prepared, working really hard and is leading by example,” said head coach Dean Brockman.
Meanwhile, only one alternate captain has been selected so far. Overage defenceman Bryton Sayers will start the season as the lone assistant.
The Blades open the season on Friday against Swift Current.
