Two Regina men are facing charges after a standoff with police on the Kawacatoose First Nation—121 kilometres north of Regina—over the weekend.
Punnichy RCMP received a call around 8:23 a.m. Sunday about a man who had been threatened at a home and guns were involved.
Officers were able to find the suspects at a different home. Attempts to take them into custody failed as the suspects refused to leave the residence.
Due to the nature of the situation, additional resources were called in to assist including the RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Police Dog Services from Yorkton and the Battlefords, Wynyard RCMP, and an RCMP Crisis Negotiator.
The situation was resolved without incident around noon the same day and six people were taken into custody. A seventh person was taken into custody about an hour later.
RCMP confirm Michael David Blueeyes, 25, and Ricky Charles Longman, 24, are facing a number of charges including assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Blueeyes appeared in court in Punnichy Tuesday. Longman makes a court appearance in Punnichy on Nov. 8.
The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pending.
