A mistrial was called in a murder trial that was about to begin at Queen’s Bench in Regina.
The trial was for the 2014 murder of 54-year-old Shawn Roderick Douglas.
The defense lawyer for one of the accused withdrew from the trial for unknown reasons.
The other two accused were representing themselves.
Joshua Wilson, 26, Dennis Thompson, 34, and Jonathan Peepeetch, 25, will be back in court at the beginning of October.
Wilson, Thompson and Peepeetch are among six people charged with first-degree murder in the death of Shawn Douglas in 2014. Police were called to Quebec Street in August 2014 when a witness saw what police called a non-responsive person being put into a vehicle. Douglas’ body was found in a rural area north of the city soon after.
Two alleged young offenders will begin their trial in November.
Aiden Anaquod, 20, will be put on trial in January.
A seventh man was also originally charged with first-degree murder, however the charge was stayed.
