Lorry Santos' sister speaks after testimony about text that led to murder

The sister of murder victim Lorry Santos spoke out following the fifth day in the trial of Joshua Petrin.
 
Petrin is accused of ordering the death of T.J. Cromartie, a man who previous witnesses have described as Petrin’s right-hand man running cocaine sales in Lloydminster, Sask. for the White Boy Posse street gang.

According to the Crown, that alleged order ultimately led to Santos’ death when two gunmen attacked the wrong house.

Randy O’Hagan was convicted in 2014 of firing the shots that killed Santos.

Another man, who can’t be named due to a court order, pleaded guilty to being a second shooter who fired from the side of the Santos home.

On Friday, court heard from Serena Lodoen.
 
Lodoen testified that she used to buy cocaine from O’Hagan.

She said her ex-boyfriend was also a drug user, and that he owed money to several people.

Lodoen said even after her relationship ended, she would get phone calls from people looking for money owed by her ex.

Loeden said she texted O’Hagan in the days before Santos’ death after another woman, Melissa Star, told her where her ex was living.

She told court she did this because she wanted her ex to pay off his debt to O’Hagan.

In that message, she also mentioned Cromartie, another person her ex had debts with.
 
O’Hagan, also a heavy drug user, mistakenly interpreted that message as containing Cromartie’s address.
 
Not only was he mistaken about who’s address he was reading, it was later revealed Star had given Loeden the wrong house number of 203 Peterson Terrace, the Santos home.

Loeden had a hard time re-reading the series of text messages in court, bursting into tears when she got to the address.
 
Lindsay Schreiner, Santos’ sister, blamed Loeden for Santos’ killing in comments to reporters outside the courtroom.
 
“It’s not fair that (Loeden) gets to go home and hug her boy every night while I have a four-year-old nephew who will never know the feeling,” she said.
