Job losses are coming in the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region as it tries to find savings on its $1 billion dollar plus budget.
A news release doesn’t say how many layoffs there will be but it stresses some people will be able to move into vacant jobs.
CEO Keith Dewar said he hopes there will be “minimal job loss.”
“It is our hope that the individuals affected will elect to pursue other opportunities elsewhere in the region,” Dewar said in a press release. “We have looked carefully at ways to meet increasing demand effectively, while minimizing potential impact on our patients and staff.”
The region says there are also cuts at the top; three full-time and two part-time administrative posts aren’t being filled.
On Thursday the Saskatoon Health Region announced 70 jobs are being cut.
Dewar will speak to reporters at 1:30.
