Excitement is building ahead of another round of professional fights to be held in Saskatoon.
Fans will be treated to At Last Boxing Championship Part II next month at Prairieland Park.
“We’re excited to be able to host professional boxing event right here in Saskatoon,” said Dennis Page, event promoter for Page Sports Promotion.
“There are a lot of skilled athletes in Saskatchewan who have been sitting on the couch, wishing, with their fingers and their toes crossed,” Page said. “Now they have the opportunity to get back into the gym and start doing things.”
The event is sanctioned by the Canadian Professional Boxing Council, and the Athletic Commission of Saskatchewan.
Page said there is a lot of talent to showcase in Saskatchewan, fighters who before an Athletic Commission was established in Saskatchewan, had to go elsewhere to fight professionally.
“By the commission being established, now boxers want to come here to fight. Before, without a commission, everything was underground,” Page said.
The card will feature Frank White and Gary Kopas, who will battle it out for the Canadian Professional Boxing Council Interim Cruiserweight title.
Paul Bzdel and Frank Cotroni will square off in the CPBC Interim Middleweight title. Five other bouts will be held as well.
The fights will be held Saturday, Oct. 22. The doors open at 6:00 pm, the first fight goes at 7:00. You can get tickets at the door or online.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will go toward the Saskatchewan Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured.
