A car owner is shocked to find out her stolen Jeep crashed and flipped onto its roof in Regina on Tuesday morning.
“You work hard for something and someone else decides they want it more I guess. It’s very frustrating,” said Jeep owner Danielle Gartner.
She realized the Jeep had been stolen when she went to let her dogs out in the morning. Gartner lives outside of McLean, Sask. on an acreage, where she said she felt safe.
“Last night was a hard night to get to sleep,” she said. “I’m thankful they only went into the Jeep and took it but it’s pretty scary.”
Gartner has been using social media to get the word out about her stolen car and that’s exactly how she found it – through 980 CJME’s Twitter page.
“Social media is so good,” she said. “A couple of people sent me a photo of it and I tried not to get my hopes up but I know my vehicle and I know how dirty it gets on the gravel.”
The photo of the car upside down on McDonald Street was circulating on social media.
“It’s better being that way than in the ditch somewhere not being found,” she said.
Gartner has advice for car owners so they’re not next.
“Lock your keys in your house and lock your house and your doors. Don’t take any chances because it could happen to you,” she said. “You don’t think it’s going to happen to you and then it does.”
Regina Police Service said witnesses saw three people run from the vehicle. No injuries have been reported yet.
