One man has died in a crash on Circle Drive in Saskatoon.
The collision happened around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in the southbound lane between Attridge Drive and 108th Street.
“It appears that we have a northbound vehicle travelling on Circle Drive, (and) for whatever reason, control is lost,” said Alyson Edwards, Saskatoon police spokeswoman.
“That vehicle crosses into southbound lanes, striking a southbound vehicle.”
Rescue crews needed hydraulic cutters to extricate a 70-year-old driver who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said a 17-year-old boy, the lone driver of a second vehicle, was treated in hospital for minor injuries then taken into police custody.
Charges are pending for Dangerous Driving Causing Death, two counts of breach of probation and two counts of breach of undertaking for the 17 year old.
Circle Drive was closed in both directions immediately after the crash. All lanes were re-opened shortly before 7 p.m.
UPDATE Circle Dr open in BOTH directions. Again we thank everyone for their patience & understanding. Enjoy rest of the evening #yxetraffic
