A drug trafficking investigation has landed two men in custody after a large knife, a rifle, and ammunition were found at a home in Regina.
At about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, members of the Regina Integrated Drug Enforcement Street Team, assisted by other units of the Regina Police Service, executed a CDSA search warrant at a home in the 1600 block of Ottawa Street — located a little north of Saskatchewan Drive.
The front and back doors were heavily barricaded making it difficult for officers to gain entry into the home. Once entering the residence, four men and one woman were found inside. Officers also located drug packaging, an SKS semi-automatic rifle, ammunition, and a machete.
Regina police have charged John Daniel Watkin, 21, with careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, among other things.
Police also charged Dane Stephen Laslow, 25, with resisting arrest and three charges of breach of probation.
Watkin and Laslow made their first court appearance on Monday.
