It was an emotional night across Canada Saturday as The Tragically Hip said farewell to fans.
Ahead by a Century was the song that closed out what’s likely the last concert for the Hip as their lead singer Gord Downie battles terminal brain cancer.
The concert was in the band’s hometown of Kingston Ont. but was broadcast around the world so fans who couldn’t be there got a chance to see them one last time.
In Saskatoon 300 came out to the Capital Music Club to dance, sing along, and even shed a few tears.
“This was not suppose to happen until the end of the night,” said a teary-eyed, Barb Beavis. “The Hip is a Canadian treasure and I’m really going to miss them.”

Tweets using the hashtag #InGordWeTrust trended in Canada with kind farewell messages for Downie.
You can’t tell me it was easy watching Gord Downie last night, breaking down during Grace Too. That was a tough one. #ingordwetrust
