Saskatoon police were kept busy on the ground and in the air during a pursuit in Riversdale over the weekend.
Police said around 1:52 a.m. Sunday, a K-9 unit located a stolen vehicle in the area of 22nd Street and Avenue H. Air 1 was alerted and quickly found the vehicle.
Officers tried using stop sticks at 20th Street and Avenue H, but the driver of the stolen vehicle sped away before losing control and hitting a fire hydrant on the corner of 18thStreet.
Police said three people inside the vehicle got out and ran.
Air 1 tracked two of the three suspects and directed patrol and K9 units to the 400 block of Avenue I South.
Officers said one tried to hide on the roof of a house, while a second hid under a vehicle in a backyard of another residence.
The third suspect was found and arrested by a bike patrol officer while trying to run from the area.
The bike officer suffered a shoulder injury during the arrest and his police bicycle was damaged.
City crews attended the scene and shut off the water at the broken hydrant.
The three suspects in custody face a number of charges including evading police, possessing stolen property and weapon-related counts.
They’re expected to appear in front of a Justice of the Peace on Sunday.
