Gold medal winning swimmer Penny Oleksiak is proving an inspiration to those just starting out.
The Canadian has made history by winning four medals in one Olympics, gold, silver and two bronze.
The 16-year-old’s achievement is encouraging and motivating those new to the sport.
Brooke Chow is 11-years-old and stayed up to watch Oleksiak win gold.
“I was really excited, she touched seventh at the wall and I knew she had a good back half but I was still nervous for her,” Chow explained.
She’s been competing in swim meets in Saskatchewan this summer and is happy the sports she loves is getting so much attention.
“I like swimming because it makes me feel calm and it relieves my stress,” said Chow.
Like many people, she has been glued to the TV and says Oleksiak is an inspiration to her and all those at the beginning of their swimming careers.
