Regina police talk safety after report of suspicious man

Regina police are asking parents to talk to their kids about safety after a report of a suspicious man. 

Police were called out to a public swimming pool on Friday about a man who was attempting to talk to kids. After arriving officers learned the man had been at the pool in the preceding days as well. Police said they were unable to find the man to find out what was going on. 

Police said no crime was committed, but they’re warning the public as a precaution. 

The man was described as being in his early to mid 30’s, caucasian, and had blonde hair in a mohawk style. He was wearing a black button-down shirt with blue shorts and bright coloured Nike running shoes.

When it comes to safety plan police are reminding parents to talk to their kids, giving some specific recommendations:

• Kids be reminded to be aware of their surroundings.
• If you are listening to music on headphones, cover only one ear so you can still hear traffic.
• Don’t approach a vehicle, if you do not know the person inside.
• Don’t talk with someone you don’t know.
• If possible, have a friend walk with you.
• Have a route that uses sidewalks, instead of alleys or paths through parks.
