The Regina Folk Festival is in full swing at Victoria Park with lots of people enjoying the entertainment
If you happen to be driving down Victoria Avenue, you may notice a row of people sitting in their lawn chairs. These are the people who lined up waiting for 5 p.m. when the gates to the main stage open. This way they will have their chance to get the best spots for the evening’s show.
Don, who lined up at 10:30 a.m, said lining up early is essential if you want a good seat.
“If you want to half way see the stage … you have to get here (early).”
Don, who has been lining up early for six years, said this year he was disappointed to see people leave their chairs.
“You can’t just leave your chair and walk away, that really sucks.”
Jodi Holliday and her friends lined up at 11 a.m. Apparently, they had a very special spot in mind.
“Well it’s funny because most of the people in the lineup are in line because they want to get a good seat in the chair section, but we actually line up because we want really good tables in the beer gardens.”
Holliday added they try to make their table at the beer gardens look fancy, with table cloths, candles, and center pieces.
Another person enjoying the festivities is Rick, who has a very specific spot.
“The best spot for us is beside the little sound tent, and there’s a walk way and we sit just on the north side of the walk way.” He said it is a good spot because nobody blocks their view of the stage.
“We (have been) right at the front and people walk by all the time, they stop and talk and block your view.”
The festival will wrap up Sunday night with a performance by The Mavericks.
