A woman escaped a house fire over the noon hour Wednesday on Regina’s McTavish Street near 8th Avenue.
Deputy fire chief Lane Jackson said the fire broke out in the basement and fire crews were called out at 12:10 p.m.
By the time they arrived, the woman who was inside the house had safely evacuated. She was taken to the hospital as a precaution to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Jackson said the major damage from the fire was contained to the basement.
