A new election poll by Insightrix Research shows support for the Sask. Party is up to 61 per cent among decided voters across the province, with NDP support holding steady at 29 per cent.
The poll shows a bump in support for the Liberals at 6 per cent while the Green Party and the Progressive Conservatives at 2 per cent.
Insightrix Research used a sample of 801 people who are members of the SaskWatch Research panel to participate in the online poll on March 14, 15 and 16. The poll set quotas for age, gender and region to represent the general demographics of the provincial population.
Support for the Sask. Party is very strong among rural voters at 62 per cent in the north and 70 per cent in the south, in comparison the NDP polled at 23 per cent in the north and 21 per cent in the south.
In Regina the race is much closer, with the NDP polling at 43 per cent and the Sask. Party at 44 per cent. The Sask. Party still leads in Saskatoon at 56 per cent with the NDP trailing at 34 per cent.
Party stance on specific issues was the most significant reason people listed for choosing one party over another with 73 per cent of participants saying the issues have a great deal of impact on their choice. Past performance of the party was the second most significant factor, with 61 per cent of people who were polled saying that a great deal of impact.
Another poll question asked participants to provide an opinion on two major party leaders.
The Sask. Party still shows a significant lead among voters of all age demographics, but support for the NDP and Liberals is higher among poll participants ages 18 to 34.
