Saskatoon police have released a description of a woman who reportedly jumped from the Broadway Bridge Monday morning.
The woman was described by a witness as in her 20s, around five feet tall and 300lbs with “purple-ish” hair.
Police and fire crews scoured the South Saskatchewan River with sonar after they got two calls about a woman jumping off the bridge around 8:55 a.m. The Saskatoon Fire Department Water Rescue Team, the police Air Support Unit, officers and MD Ambulance all responded.
By about 5 p.m. Monday, the Saskatoon Fire Department reported a sonar search of the riverbed between the Broadway Bridge and the north side of the University Bridge didn’t turn up anything that warranted sending divers into the water.
Searchers also checked riverbanks, bridges and the area around the weir.
The Fire Department reported that there were no plans to continue the search but the investigation continues.
