Two people are facing more than 20 charges after a chase with police early Tuesday morning.
It was around 1:40am when police noticed a suspicious car in a back alley in the area of 21st Street and Avenue U. Once police approached the car, it sped off. A shot pursuit followed before the Air Support Unit (ASU) took over.
The ASU continued to follow the car for nearly an hour and at the intersection of 19th Street and Avenue C, witnessed a firearm thrown from the vehicle. Police were able to locate and seize the firearm.
The two suspects eventually fled the car on foot in the neighbourhoods of Adelade and Churchill.
They were arrested near Clarence Ave. on 3rd and 2nd Street East.
The charges against a 27-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman include evading police as well as drugs and firearms.
