Police lay charges in connection to recent string of armed robberies

Saskatoon police arrested and charged a man and a woman they believe to be connected to at least five armed robberies in Saskatoon.

On Sunday at around 6 p.m. police arrested a 28-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman leaving an apartment building in the 100 block of Avenue U South.

Police executed search warrants on the man’s apartment and vehicle uncovering multiple street drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl. Officers also discovered numerous pharmaceuticals and a sawed-off rifle.

Officers said they believe the man is responsible for at least five armed robberies to convenience stores and further charges are expected to come down as the investigation continues.

The man faces numerous charges including one count of armed robbery, and numerous gun charges. He is also faces a long list of drug charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, methadone hydrochloride, morphine, methamphetamine and fentanyl.

He was also found to be wanted on outstanding warrants, including being unlawfully at large. He’s been remanded until his next court appearance on Nov. 16.

In addition to facing the same drug trafficking charges, the 23-year-old woman is facing firearms-related charges and public mischief. She has been remanded until her next court appearance on Nov. 13.

Police said they continue to look for a known suspect believed to be an accomplice to the armed robberies.
