Regina police make arrests in 2 overnight robberies

A gas station and a vendor selling liquor, both on Albert Street, were robbed overnight in Regina but police have arrested and charged suspects in both incidents.

Two men went into the gas station in the 2300 block of Albert Street before 10:30 p.m. demanding cash. One had a knife. They left in a vehicle with cigarettes and cash. No one was hurt.

Later that night, police pulled over a vehicle and arrested two men, charging them in that robbery.

Fifty-two-year-old Steven Wayne McInnes made first court appearance on armed robbery charges at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Just before 11 p.m., another report came in about a second robbery, this time in the 4100 block of Albert Street. A man pulled a knife on an employee before leaving with two cases of beer. The employee was cut on the hand.

A suspect was tracked by a police dog, who was hurt during the arrest. Police call injuries to the dog and the employee “minor”.

Twenty-one-year-old Joey Lance Tanaquason also appears in court at 2 p.m. Wednesday. He faces an armed robbery charge as well as charges of assaulting a police officer, breach of recognizance and carrying a concealed weapon.

Update: Twenty-one-year-old Brandon McInnes was originally charged in connection in the robbery of the gas station but those charges have since been dropped.
