The City of Regina is hitting the streets to answer questions about parking.
Starting Tuesday, a new parking ambassador program will begin in the city. Ambassadors will answer parking questions and pass out printed information to help people understand parking regulations in Regina.
“We understand that there are concerns by residents about the level of enforcement and not understanding the rules, and they seem to have changed.” explained Regina Mayor Michael Fougere while appearing on the CJME Morning News Tuesday morning.
“So what we wanted to do is, not move away from enforcement but provide resources to let people know, ‘these are the rules.'”
In a news release, the city says the program also aims to help the public recognize that parking in a metered spot may not be the best option for them.
Some parking enforcement workers will be reassigned to be ambassadors. The ambassadors will be on the street for up to six months, depending on how successful the program is.
