Regina police officers spent a few hours measuring skid marks on Monday morning following a single vehicle rollover on McCarthy Boulevard.
People who live by the wall backing onto McCarthy Boulevard say it happened around 8 a.m.
“We just heard squealing tires and it sounded like someone was speeding and shortly thereafter there was a huge crash,” said one neighbour who asked to not be identified. “It sounded like something had hit the wall – one of those rock city walls – behind our house. Sure enough when I went out and looked there was a truck rolled.”
The skid marks started at the stop sign at the Lakeridge Road intersection on the west side of the road. They ran across McCarthy for more than 100 feet and into the ditch where a small sapling tree was knocked over. There was a black mark on the city wall, as well as debris scattered along the road.
Neighbours reported seeing a young man get out of the truck on the driver’s side and walk around. Police confirm that there were no serious injuries and the driver was not taken to hospital.
However, neighbours say it could have been a lot worse because a path runs along the other side of the road.
“It was scary. There’s a ton of people that walk along that path with kids and dogs and animals all the time. There’s tons of traffic at that time in the morning and I’m just amazed that no one got injured. There’s people who speed back there all the time,” he said.
There is no word on charges at this stage in the investigation.
