RCMP in Indian Head have charged a man with first-degree murder.
John Robert Strang was arrested peacefully by RCMP members from the Battlefords, Cutknife and Unity RCMP around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
The arrest was made after an off-duty RCMP member saw the vehicle Strang was believed to be driving just before midnight on Highway 29 heading north towards the Highway 40 junction.
Strang was taken to hospital in North Battleford for minor injuries that happened before he was arrested. He will appear before a justice of the peace in North Battleford Monday and will be held in custody until his next court appearance in Regina Provincial Court. A date and time have yet to be set.
The investigations started after the body of a woman was found in a home in the small town of McLean on Saturday. The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Lisa Strang from the McLean area. She was in a relationship with and living in the same house as John Strang. An autopsy is scheduled for next week in Saskatoon.
McLean is roughly 40 kilometres east of Regina along Highway 1.
