Police are connecting the dots between a suspect from Calgary , a stolen vehicle from Regina and a police chase in Saskatoon.
A 34-year-old man from Calgary was arrested and charged with evading police and dangerous driving, as well as charges related to at least two robberies in Saskatoon last week.
Regina Police are also investigating because the suspect is believed to be responsible for several incidents in the Queen City.
The man was arrested in Saskatoon after he was spotted driving erratically near 22nd Street and Idylwyld Drive just before 1 a.m. Saturday morning. When police tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver sped off, leading the police air unit to follow him out of the city on Highway 11. The vehicle turned back into the city but the suspect ended up ditching the vehicle around McKercher Drive and 8th Street and fled on foot.
With support from the air and the Canine Unit on the ground, the man was found. After a struggle with officers and a service dog, he was brought in.
He was charged with Robbery, Theft under $5,000, Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000, Evading Police, and Dangerous Driving. The suspect also faced charges related to a theft last Wednesday from a business on the 2800 block of Wanuskewin Drive and the robbery of an 8th Street business last Thursday.
Investigators are also working with Regina Police and additional charges are likely to be laid.
The suspect has been remanded in custody and will be appearing in Provincial Court Monday morning.
